When you bring your new puppy home, you’re looking forward to a long and happy life with your new friend. Coping with an aggressive, unruly, out-of-control dog is the last thing on your mind.

Plan Ahead Before Getting A Dog

Decide which breed is best for you.  It’s a mistake to bring a high-energy, working dog like a border collie into a suburban home, and expect everyone to be happy.  Think about what you want out of a dog, and choose a breed accordingly.

Your new puppy will need lots of time and attention, especially when he first arrives.   If possible, bring him home when you’re starting a vacation so you can spend lots of time with him.  It’s a bad idea to bring a puppy home one night, and then immediately leave him on his own the next day.
